Besides the usual cross-stitch, a raised or clipped stitch called Surrey was employed that created a thick wool pile and enhanced the color and shading of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Also has colored glass eyes. It is resting on a red tasseled cushion inspired by Dash, Queen Victoria's beloved pet dog. The medium-tone wood frame has rounded outside corners and it is scalloped on the inner-side.  American, it is hand-crafted probably between 1850 to 1880.
    MEASUREMENTS:
Outside, the frame is 22 5/8 inches wide and 17 7/8 inches high. Inside picture area is 20 inches by 15 inches.
    CONDITION:
Very good preowned estate condition.  There are a couple of very minor embroidery losses in the lower left and right corners.  The frame has light scuff marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Please examine the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
