Rare program from April 29, 1902 for Robin Hood, presented by the De Koven Opera Company. Size about 11 x 8 inches. 8 pages. Many local ads. While the program is in obviously POOR condition, its rarity qualifies it for a place in somebody's collection. Sold AS-IS, look it over before you bid.
The Bardavon 1869 Opera House in the downtown district of Poughkeepsie, New York, is the oldest continuously operating theater in New York State. Designed by J.A. Wood, it was built in 1869 and served as a venue for various performing arts, community meetings, and celebrations until 1923; it largely resumed this heritage by becoming a general performing-arts facility in 1976. In the interlude period from 1923 to 1975, it served as a cinema, although there were some live performances, especially vaudeville, during this period. Originally called the Collingwood Opera House after its owner and operator James Collingwood, the theater featured an unusual two-stage dome. Between 1869 and 1921, many notable figures of the day graced the Bardavon's stage, including Sarah Bernhardt and John Barrymore.
Robin Hood is a comic opera by Reginald De Koven (music), Harry B. Smith (lyrics) and Clement Scott (lyrics of "Oh Promise Me"). The story is based on the Robin Hood legend, during the reign of King Richard I (1189-1199 AD). The opera was composed in Chicago, Illinois during the winter of 1888-1889.
The opera was first performed at the Chicago Opera House on 9 June 1890. It was produced by the Boston Ideal Opera Company, also known as the Bostonians. The opera opened in New York at the Standard Theatre on September 22, 1891 and was produced in London at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 1891 with a new title, Maid Marian. It was revived at the Knickerbocker Theater on Broadway on April 30, 1900. Other Broadway revivals were in 1902 at the Academy of Music, in 1912 at New Amsterdam Theatre with Walter Hyde in the title role, in 1918 at the Park Theatre, in 1929 at the Casino Theatre and Jolson's 59th Street Theatre, in 1932 at Erlanger's Theatre, and in 1944 at the Adelphi Theatre.

both Auction and Buy-It-Now formats. There are no longer Ebay refunds for postage once payment has been made:
a. Auction Purchases: Wait for combined shipping invoice on multiple auction wins prior to payment. This may take up to a day based on my schedule, and does not affect your prompt payment status. The message line of the invoice will reflect that the postage has been combined.
b. Buy-It-Now Purchases: If you plan to buy more than one item from me, add them to your shopping cart on a computer (not a phone or tablet), DO NOT USE BUY IT NOW BUTTON. Once you're completed adding to your cart from my listings, go to the shopping cart and click on the button at top of cart page that says "Request Total From Seller." You will be prompted to commit to the purchases, at which point nobody else will be able to buy them. A notice will be sent to me to package your items together and combine your shipping charges as much as possible, and send a hopefully reduced invoice. c. International Buyers: You must be logged in to the US eBay site (www.ebay.com) in order to use the shopping cart to request combined shipping invoice. Log out of your country specific eBay and log in at the US site. Note: listings using the eBay Global Shipping program are not subject to combined shipping.
d. No refunds will be made for those who cannot wait for a combined invoice. Please don't bid/buy if you don't agree to this.

POSTAGE:
All USPS postage rates are calculated using the most affordable (not the quickest) shipping class, based on a pre-sale estimated weight and size of the package. If you want to upgrade to a quicker, more expensive postal class, you must let me know BEFORE you pay.

Ebay has taken over all duties for sales tax collection for all states that require it. I have no control whatsoever over who pays sales tax, it is out of my hands. Please direct all questions/complaints to the good folks at Ebay.
