    Description

    Chinese Camphor wood carved bird floral box.
    Original Chinese Art Numbered Sticker on the bottom.
    Measures 5.5 inch long x 3 4/4” x 3” tall.
    Brass metal hardware latch, Footed Box
    Deeply carved with Flowers, leaves and Long slender shaped Birds
    Lined in red felt.
    Hand carved from Camphor wood.
    Good condition, with a few minor nicks, as shown in my close up photos.
    Camphor wood has a distinctive pungent, spicy scent.  Valued by the Chinese because of its density, its grain and and its ability to repel bugs (similar to cedar in this respect), and keeps silver from tarnishing. Zhang mu Camphor wood is used in both Northern and Southern Chinese furniture.
